Why, hello gentlemen! It is the eve before Valentine’s Day and while I want to believe otherwise, I bet you have just been hit with the realization that you need a little something for your love. Whether you have been together for two weeks, two years or two decades you probably know that flowers are pretty much a must on V-day. Some of you punks would say that your love doesn’t want flowers. Well, I may as well be the person to break it to you. She is lying! Every girl loves herself some flowers and a little love note too! Don’t worry, I will give you some very man friendly ideas that you can pull off tonight or even tomorrow right before your romantic date!
Below are great, simple, and thoughtful ideas for you gentlemen. Figuring you men need easy projects, we have discovered several that you can do all from your couch with items from your own home! So, here are some ideas to spice up your flowers and notes (and trust me, they will spice up your evening).
{ Message in a Bottle }
First, your message. No, we cannot write this for you. This has to come from the tender spot in your heart. Find it….okay now write. Jot down your most romantic thoughts on an antique paper. If you don’t have antique paper just lying around, dye some white paper in tea and burn the edges. Once complete roll up your note and put it in a bottle. This can simply be an empty wine bottle. Finally, dress up the bottle with ribbon or a personalized label.
{ Flowers Wrapped }
The easiest way to dress up the flowers (you know, the ones you are going to pick up tomorrow when the stores open) is with paper. You simply just take paper or even music sheets and roll them into a cone. Once secured with tape on the inside, plop the flowers in! (this project was inspired by afieldjournal.blogspot.com)
{ Flowers Canned }
Once you have finished your chili or soup, use the can! And please wash it out. Wrap the can in cute and colorful wrapping paper or just surround the top edge in ribbon for a more modern look. And of course, insert flowers!
{ Flowers Pressed }
For you romantics that just have an empty wallet this year, this is the project for you. Go to your backyard (or neighbor’s garden) and pick a simple flower. Place it in a favorite vintage book and press closed. Leave it overnight and open tomorrow to find your flower pressed into the pages. Wrap it up in ribbon with a little note and give to your love.

If you are a man that enjoys POM tea, just keep that glass! Plop several flowers into the glass and feel free to dress it up with ribbon.

I have big pots, small pots, mixers, blenders, pans, and a large bucket of utensils. These kitchen items are displayed ever so cute in our kitchen. And well, they pretty much stay there. I personally think they feel more at home staying in their designated spot. My husband, however, would beg to differ. Although I am no pro in the kitchen (or even close) every once in a while I will take on a small cooking project. I am pretty sure that everyone is more scared of the days I do cook than the days I don’t. They would probably rather not eat at all.
But this Valentine’s Day I am going to pull out the old baking ware and create a dessert for two! I received a little inspiration from the incredible Martha Stewart. With her recipes and tips, I hope to have a sweet evening with my valentine! Check out these creations and pull out your baking materials!

Last weekend was certainly a weekend of fun and laugher! Since Keary Dee Warner is about to tie the knot, it was time for a shower that reflected her unique style. Drawing inspiration from her wedding invitations and overall wedding style, we created an antique bridal shower! For each centerpiece, I collected vintage books from antique stores and library bookstores where they sell their old books. Stacking one on top of the other, we topped off the books with floral pieces. Using a variety of vases, jars, and even a vintage looking toothbrush holders, we wrapped lace on them and plopped a variety of flowers in each one. Then, for the final touch we sprinkled buttons around the piece! Each table was uniquely its own so no one centerpiece looked exactly the same! To carry the look throughout, we used burlap as the table linens! It was SO fun to collaborate on this project with my talented Aunt Pattie! Here are some snap shots… by yours truly.
